The Sundowner series is going with only 4 races
to go (2 more Saturdays). My last race on the boat was on September
20th. I skippered the boat in winds between 0 and 3 knots. The Farr
39 is a extremely good light air vessel. We managed to score a 1st
and 3rd places, keeping our leadership over the fleet on the series.
As scheduled, I finally made it to Texoma's
Wunderlick Regatta for his 2008 edition. My regular position as trimmer
on the Farr 39 ML Team Mauri Pro Sailing was as demanding as always,
but this time for a longer period due to the mileage of the race
course. Winds were light and stable. It started in the neighborhood
of 8- 10 knots and went suddenly decreasing as the end of the day
approached, so we were able to extend our lead, winning the event
by more than 6 minutes over the second (corrected time).
Being based in North Texas does not allow too
much training on the water during summer. Working on a sailboat-related
company helps
keep me active in terms of stat-of-mind giving also a break to the
physical act of sailing. Back to gym training and following up on
the Olympics are the main "keep up" activities until the
local season starts again in late September.
Next upcoming event is the Texoma's
Wunderlick Regatta, hosted by the Texoma Sailing Club on August 30
the and 31st. I will be trimming headsails and spinnakers for the
Farr 39 Mauri Pro Sailing Team.
