Winter arrived to Texas. Not much racing going on, just keeping
in a low mode trainning and gainning endurance against the elements
thru some windsurfing in cold weather with minimu protection equipemnet.
It has been a good experience, even though not always pleasant.
Spending excessive time on the water without the right gear almost
got me in trouble due to hypothermia, but it was caught on time.
Second weekend of racing the Sundowner
series. This time I skippered the Farr 39 for the two races we had
on September 20th. We got a 1st place on the first race and a 3rd on
the
second. Conditions were extremely light wind from ENE - NE averaging
2 -3 knots for the whole day. Crew work was very good and we had a
late start on the second race, that cost us the regatta. My total responsibility
for that fact.
Season is picking up in North Texas and we are going
to be ready to complete any big boat series by the winter series. The
boat is currently sitting on first place in the series by one point.
Texoma Series: this Fall the Texoma Sailing Club Sundowner
Series is on target with our Farr 39. Until now, we are leading the
results
but still long way to go. Posted: 09/18/08
Being baseded in North Texas does not allow too much training on the
water during summer. Working on a sailboat-related company helps keep
me active in terms of stat-of-mind giving also a break to the physical
act of sailing. Back to gym training and following up on the Olympics
are the main "keep up" activities until the local season
starts again in late September.
Next upcoming event is the Texoma's
Wunderlick Regatta, hosted by the Texoma Sailing Club on August 30
the and 31st. I will be trimming headsails and spinnakers for the
Farr 39 Mauri Pro Sailing Team. |
